How we are using our Low Level Laser machine to benefit our patients at 21st Century clinic, ReadingRachel Ackroyd | February 24th, 2015
We have been using the Low Level Laser machine at 21st Century Clinic for a year now with amazing results, so I thought it would be a good time to share a few of our success stories! I have only included a couple of our success stories. If you would like to see more case studies or hear more about our laser please ring the clinic and speak to one of our receptionists. Before we show you our amazing results lets remind you all how the laser works and what I use it for the Podiatrist at the clinic.
The Low Level Laser Therapy works to repair tissues, increase the tensile strength of the repaired tissue, balance the collagen production reducing scarring, stimulate the immune system and relieve pain. Due to its low power nature the effects are biochemical and not thermal which means it doesn’t heat and there is therefore no resulting damage to the tissue, in fact it can improve the appearance of scaring.
Low Level Laser Therapy can be used on its own as a treatment modality or in conjunction with other treatment modalities. It works to support the immune response through increasing white blood cell activity meaning used on its own it can work to speed up the body’s own immune response and offer resolution of the verruca. Research has suggested that 70% of verruca’s treated with Low Level Laser Therapy resolved within 6 weeks as opposed to 17% in the placebo group with no treatment. Results can be seen after weekly treatments between 2-6 weeks depending on the size of the area affected and the patient’s immune response.
Verruca case study
65 year old lady with persistent verruca for many years. Tried over the counter and cryotherapy with no improvement. Low Level Laser therapy applied on weekly basis for 4 weeks.

Low Level Laser Therapy works to improve the growth factor, improving the quality of blood which aids tissue response. It also improves the immune response to the fungal spores, increasing the body’s natural growth and immune processes to restore the nail to a more aesthetically pleasing state. Treatments usually consist of 1 a week for 8-10 weeks and results are usually expected between 4-6 months although we almost always notice a marked improvement at the end of the treatment (usually around 2 months).
Fungal nail case study
48 year old lady. Fungal nails present for many years. Normal over the counter treatments no improvement. Low laser therapy applied on a weekly basis for 8 weeks. A marked improvement is noted in the second picture (on 8th treatment). The patient went away continuing good foot hygiene and total nail resolution was achieved 5 months later (with no further ongoing treatment)
At first appointment After 8 treatments at weekly intervals
